Upper Lantzville

The District of Lantzville covers almost 28 square kilometers on Vancouver Island with Upper Lantzville being the portion just outside of the village area. The neighbourhood is more rural than other neighbourhoods in Nanaimo. In fact, you will find much larger lots in Upper Lantzville compared to other Nanaimo real estate for sale. These properties are perfect for people who want a more rural lifestyle or that want to start a small farm. Similar to other neighbourhoods in the area, Upper Lantzville is relatively close to the north end of Nanaimo and the major shopping areas and parks. Avid golfers will want to visit Winchelsea View Golf Course, an attractive 18 hole course that offers something for all playing abilities. Winchelsea hosts spectacular views of the Strait of Georgia and the Coastal Mountains of the mainland.

Parks in the area:

Arbutus Grove Provincial Park- Arbutus Grove Provincial Park is only a 14 minute drive north-west of downtown Lantzville and appeals to all outdoor enthusiasts. The park was established as a Provincial Park in July of 1966. It aims to protect a representative stand of Arbutus trees. Hikers use the park as a quiet, nature-viewing area.

Lantzville Foothills- Just north of town lay the Lantzville Foothills. The Foothills provide a 7km hike or a shorter 4km loop and million dollar views of Nanaimo and the ocean. Some residents are concerned that these viewpoints will not be available to the public much longer, however the various developers that plan to build on the land have promised to reserve the peaks of the hills as parkland.

Sebastian Beach Park - Sebastian Beach is a popular swimming beach that affords a pleasant safe setting much of the year. The bay setting provides a mixed setting, part sand and part rock. The rock is an extension of the point at Sebastian Road and supports many types of fish and marine life. The setting is quite exposed to the North West winds of the summer, but is quite protected in the winter from the South East winds. The bay is a pleasant place to visit, however the water is not very deep. This beach is very popular with both canoers & kayakers alike.
